Shuttle Returning to Five Days a Week

A federal grant has come to the rescue of those in need of transportation in Taylor County.

Taylor County’s bus shuttle will return to five days a week, thanks to a $40,000 federal transit grant.

Several years ago, commissioners had to cut the service down to three days a week because of state budget cuts.

Officials say the grant will also allow residents to ride at no charge for a year, instead of paying the 50-cent fare.

Frequent shuttle rider Mary Jones said, “I think it’s a wonderful thing because it’s really not too many people–the older people don’t have transportation unless they get the shuttle or the Big Bend.”

The five day a week shuttle schedule will begin April 1st.
