Capital Regional Medical Center, the new operator of the former Gadsden Community Hospital, is recruiting up to 50 staff members for the medical facility, which is expected to reopen around the middle of June.

A job fair takes place there Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Capital Regional Medical Center – Gadsden Memorial Campus, as it is now called, is at 23186 Blue Star Highway in Quincy.
“We are looking forward to Saturday’s event, which I think shows our support for the community,” said Bud Wethington, CRMC’s president and CEO.
Among the positions to be filled are nurses, paramedics, laboratory staff, pharmacists, registrars and technicians for CT scan, X-ray and ultrasound services.
CRMC, who successfully negotiated a contract with Gadsden County to lease and operate the hospital that has been closed since 2005, will have a 24-hour emergency room, alleviating the need for patients to take ambulance rides to Tallahassee for care.
Directors from CRMC will be present Saturday to answer questions and accept applications for open positions, the hospital said. The event includes refreshments and entertainment for children while parents inquire about job openings.
The job fair is held in partnership with Workforce Plus.
“The current economic downturn has impacted the residents of Gadsden County in a way not seen by the surrounding counties,” said Kimberly A. Moore, CEO of Workforce Plus. “The jobs that are being created by Capital Regional Medical Center come at a much-needed time.”
As is the case across Florida and nationwide, health care remains the only field that has shown substantive growth during the recession. “The benefits generated by Capital Regional’s placement in the Gadsden community not only addresses the need for expanded health-care services, but also serves as a starting point for stabilizing the local economy,” Moore said.
