Northwest Florida Legislative Dialogue
UPDATE: Suzanne Cartwright and Marta Goldsmith from Urban Land Institute will participate in ORT meeting immediately following the Legislative Dialogue.
Legislators from the 18-county region of Northwest Florida (from Madison and Taylor counties in the east to Escambia in the west) will hear from economic and workforce development leaders on the issues facing the region. Presented by Florida’s Great Northwest and Our Region Tomorrow, the event will take place Monday, February 15, from 10:30 am to 12:00 noon at the Doubletree Hotel in Tallahassee, Florida, to coincide with the planned legislative committee week.
Florida’s Great Northwest is committed to growing a vibrant and sustainable economy for Northwest Florida that creates nationally and globally competitive advantages for the development of key industry clusters, increases the income and prosperity of workers and families, ensures healthy communities and a vibrant quality of life, and preserves the natural beauty and resources of the region.
Our Region Tomorrow (ORT) is the regional visioning and long-range, action-planning effort to ensure sustainable economic growth and protection of natural resources in order to strengthen the quality of life enjoyed by residents and visitors. ORT is facilitating long-range planning in areas such as transportation and land use, economic growth, environmental responsibility and cultural appreciation.
Leaders from both organizations will brief the region’s legislators as they prepare for this year’s regular Legislative Session, beginning in early March.
A meeting of the ORT Advisory Board will take place immediately following the event.
