Officials Brainstorm How To Defeat Oil Spill In Our Area

State officials from around Florida as well as county representatives from throughout the big bend met Monday morning to share information about how our area can fight and defeat the oil spill.

About a hundred leaders from Franklin, Wakulla, Leon, Taylor and Gulf counties came together to give and get suggestions about how to protect their coastal communities.

Franklin County Commissioners encouraged other counties to the east to prepare and come together even though state agencies and B-P are calling the shots.

D-E-P encouraged this saying it needs the local input to know what the most vulnerable parts of the coastline are. Folks from Tallahassee also came because they say even if you don’t live along the coast these are your beaches, too.

There are so many unknowns still, but as of this morning some oil has actually moved away from Florida. And that’s good news.
